Rod:
- The Maxcatch Premier rod is incredibly well-built for the price. It’s a fast action rod and the blanks are made with Pure IM8 30T carbon fiber which keeps it very light in hand. These blanks are constructed using 5 layers of carbon which they say gives it a 25% increase in strength and knocks 15% off the overall weight of the rod and I have to say, when you’re holding this in hand it does feel pretty light. The rod also features high-quality ceramic insert stripper guides, hard-chrome stainless steel snake guides

Rod Tube:

This hard, material covered PVC rod tube includes a nice spacious spot for the reel and some extra storage pockets as well. It’s well-built and rugged, ensuring that your rod and reel won’t get damaged when you’re transporting it to the river, or if you’re traveling by plane to your next fly fishing destination.

Reel:
- This reel is made with relatively lightweight, CNC machined bar stock aluminum. It features a smooth and reliable Teflon and cork centre disc drag system that delivers instant drag tension and actually feels pretty capable even when pulling in large fish. The arbor is mid-sized and will always match the rod in the outfit perfectly.

Flies:
- The box comes with 10 flies that are actually surprisingly well-tied and the box they come in is really high quality as well with dense foam inserts and a nice water-tight seal.

Warranty:
- Maxcatch offers a 1-year warranty with the MaxCatch Premier fly rod, but to be honest, I’ve checked a lot of reviews on this rod online and a few people have complained that they aren’t very good at honoring their warranty policy. Also, these rods are coming out of China, and seeing as this combo is so affordable, it’s probably not worth sending it in for a repair and you’d probably just purchase a replacement yourself. Having said that I’ve had quite a few Maxcatch products over the past 8 years or so and I’ve yet to break or damage any of these, which is pretty impressive at this price bracket because I have managed to break quite a bit of more expensive kit.
