Trump announces additions to Supreme Court nomination list, addresses Woodward audio | FULL

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday named his list of potential nominees for the Supreme Court should he win re-election in November, in what is seen as a bid to court more conservatives and evangelicals to the party as he did prior to the 2016 Election Day. Trump said he was adding 20 nominees from the original list he provided in 2016, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton.

He also claimed should members of the “radical left” get on the Supreme Court, they would allow late-term abortions, remove the Second Amendment and take out “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.

Trump also addressed audio recordings of him admitting to journalist Bob Woodward that he "wanted to always" downplay the COVID-19 disease, as well as excerpts from a book alleging he intentionally downplayed the virus, saying he merely did not want to show panic when speaking about the coronavirus in public.

Trump called the book a “political hit job,” despite his own comments being on the record, but said that when talking about the virus in public he wanted to ensure no panic was caused.

Asked why he didn’t take action in February and waited until March, Trump said “you have to show leadership” and that leadership “is confidence in our country.”
