Hunting Geese Early Season with 10 Gauge T's and Feather Folder, Pre-Sunrise Limit

I’m looking at a major backlog of raw video that needs to be edited right now.  Some absolutely stunning hunts, starting with this one from early September.  After a great hunt on Saturday, we sent a tank of gas through the truck looking for the next.  While uncovering a couple of options throughout the day, none of which were too promising, we ended up in an area that I was familiar with and Aaron Hohn knew well.  Finally, at 5:45pm we started seeing some movement, a flight of geese, maybe 75, dumped into a large wheat field.  These birds gave the impression they knew exactly where they wanted to be, wasting no time getting in, down and grr grr grr grrrr grrr feeding.  Knowing the area well enough to be confident there were more birds coming, or already down grrr-ing in the field, Aaron started communications to see if hunting this field was possible, it seemed like a long shot but it was our best option.  We were basically committed to a loafing style pasture hunt (B) or a smaller wheat field (A) that we had permission for.  After dropping him off, driving myself home,my main focus was on the backs of my eyelids, for about 30 minutes then Aaron called, telling me there was a problem with our field (A), our hunt for the morning wasn’t going to happen as planned.  I had entered REM sleep just before this call, full rest, when my phone (which was cranked to 11 for alarm purposes) pierced my peace.  Struggling to concentrate on his words and my heart rate, it hit me that I might not be hunting in the morning.  “We won’t be hunting the small wheat field, there’s a problem.”  Early season there seems to be plenty of problems with these hunts given the small number of hunt-able harvested grain or green fields.  This wasn’t the problem.  Our problem was that we were green lighted to set up in the A1 option wheat field.  So, now try and sleep…..not much was used.  

There was no way any of us could have anticipated the script that was written for us the next morning.  A massive sky filled with birds, a non stop mad rush to get into our decoys and a resulting 6 man limit in under 30 minutes.  The GoPro only stopped when it ran out of batteries, I had time to reload it and my gun, the rest of the hunt was basically over at that point.  An awesome group of straight shooters made very quick work, making the storyline that much more impressive.
