With a very unique and international childhood, Maria had to learn the lessons of life very quickly. Through a funny and inspiring talk, she will share why she believes high emotional intelligence is important in education and how music can play a role in teaching our students this.

María M. Iturriaga is the Executive Director for Berklee College of Music at its campus in Valencia, Spain, where she plays a leading role in the college’s global enrollment, marketing, admissions and career development strategy. Iturriaga joined Berklee in 2008 and was at the forefront of establishing the Valencia campus - as Berklee’s first full-time employee in Spain‑ for the creation of the college’s first international campus.
María holds a Master’s degree in Performing Arts Administration from New York University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid, and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the Royal
Conservatory of Music of Madrid.
