Parliament Winter Session Ends: LS Records 111% Productivity, Vande Mataram & SIR Debates in Focus

The Winter Session of India’s Parliament concluded on a high note, with the Rajya Sabha recording an impressive 121% productivity and the Lok Sabha achieving 111%. The Chairman praised members for their cooperation, noting that lawmakers agreed to extend sittings and even skip lunch recesses on five occasions to ensure the completion of parliamentary business.

This session witnessed a record number of Zero Hour Notices, averaging over 84 per day—a 31% increase from previous sessions. Matters raised during Zero Hour averaged more than 15 per day, marking nearly a 50% rise compared to earlier sessions. These figures reflect an active and engaged Parliament committed to addressing pressing issues efficiently.

High-quality debates further distinguished the session. Notably, a two-day discussion commemorating the 150th anniversary of the National Song, Vande Mataram, saw participation from 82 members, while a three-day debate on election reforms included inputs from 57 members. These deliberations underscored Parliament’s focus on national heritage, democratic reforms, and meaningful legislative discourse.

The successful conclusion of the Winter Session highlights the dedication of lawmakers to uphold democratic values and emphasizes the importance of active participation in shaping the nation’s legislative agenda.
