Mazdaspeed 3 - Crushing The In Tank Fuel Pressure Regulator
In this video we lightly crush the In-Tank Fuel Pressure Regulator, which increases preload on it's internal spring, and raises fuel pressure slightly. This improves atomization of the fuel when it exits the 6th Port Aux Fuel Injectors. Better atomization of the fuel will allow it to mix into the surrounding air more effectively, which reduces the chances for the fuel to pool up or condense in the piping and intake manifold plenum. Since the additional fuel is being injected before the throttle body (6th Port), having better atomization of the fuel will also help the intake manifold to evenly distribute the fuel into each cylinder. This is just a free way to increase fuel pressure without having to run a boost referenced regulator and a return line back to the gas tank, fuel cell, or surge tank.
