Can Football Change The World?: David Shaw at TEDxStanford

In his first two seasons as head football coach, David Shaw led the Cardinal to win a school-record 23 games, the 2012 Pac-12 Championship and 2013 Rose Bowl Game Championship. He is the two-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

David Shaw's Stanford career began as a four-year receiver and included 57 catches for 664 yards and five touchdowns. He also competed in varsity track and varsity basketball while at Stanford before graduating in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Before his appointment as head coach, Shaw served as Stanford's offensive coordinator over a four-year period in which the Cardinal averaged 40.31 points per game. Shaw's coaching resume includes nine years of NFL experience with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens. Coaching is a family affair for Shaw -- his father, Willie Shaw, coached at Stanford as well as with NFL teams.
