How to manage bipolar
This is an interview with Amy Pollard, the founder and director of the Mental Health Collective. Amy is proud to have a diagnosis of Bipolar
We discuss the strategies Amy has developed to manage periods of bipolarity smoothly.
This video is intended to be helpful to people with a Bipolar diagnosis, and to their loved ones.
Amy starts talking about the strategies she has found helpful 9mins in - including:
1) Finding an outlet for her energy
2) Her 'alternative account' on twitter and her 'madness monitoring committee'
3) Medication - and dialogue with her psychiatrist
4) Her pre-arranged agreement with her partner on steps to be taken when her mood is high or low.
5) Support groups
6) Having a long-term frame of growth.
She emailed to add that, after she has had a 'whizzy' phase where her husband supported her, he gets some time off, as a thank-you.
