Riding slowly is, in my mind, one of the keys to happy urban cycling, and also a pleasure unto itself. But riding slowly can be strangely difficult. Most bikes, especially most of those marketed and sold in North America, are built for speed. They force you into aggressive and sometimes uncomfortable riding positions, they are geared for quickness, and built with high-tech light parts. Yes, they are fun in their own right, but riding them slowly can be, I've found, nearly impossible.

So here are a few tips to ride slowly, to make your urban bicycle transportation experience better.
