Naci en Alamo in Spanish and Moroccan | Lala Tamar & Ofer Ronen

Naci en Alamo, the famous song from the movie Vengo by Tony Gatlif. Originally a greek song called Nas Balamo, it was translated to Spanish for the movie Vengo, and later made famous by Sephardic singer Yasmin Levy. Another beautiful version of the song is Naci en Palestina by Emel Mathlouthi.

Here we perform our own version on a rooftop in Tel Aviv. Lala Tamar and her mother translated the Spanish lyrics into Moroccan, and I made the guitar version on the rooftop of my parents’ house in Tel Aviv.

You may define our genre as Flamenco Arabe, or Flamenco Fusion, and it is based on the flamenco guitar but with touches of Middle Eastern Music. And the Andalusian music style of singing of Lala Tamar.
