I Built My Own Spike Plate for Faster Bowl Turning & Production

Following the example of master wood turner Glenn Lucas, I’m working to streamline my bowl production. One of the tools he uses is a spike plate for quickly mounting and rough shaping bowl blanks on the outside.
Commercial spike plates cost around $150, so I decided to build my own version. In this video I show the complete build process, how I use it, and why it’s such a game-changer for turning multiple bowls efficiently.
