The Atomic Vantage 90 Ti for 2020-21 is similar to last season, but with a tweak to the glass fibre layup in the ski.
Using Atomic's Prolite construction methodology; starting with the thinnest profile possible then building up power and support where needed, as they first introduced with their Hawx Ultra range boots, results in a light yet powerful ski.
A layer of titanium is made lighter with strategic holes, so you still get the dampening and torsion control but with far less weight. The power comes from the ash and poplar wood core of the Energy Backbone that runs full width underfoot then along the sides as you move towards the tip and tail.
For this season they've worked on the glass fibre layup in the ski and the tip has a smoother, easier flex than last season and, with the tip rocker, floats really well off-piste.
The improved flex pattern means the Vantage 90 Ti is a dream to get into turns when skiing challenging conditions away from the groomed runs, with lots of strength and support underfoot for pushing big turns on firmer snow.
Mark Jones, BASI trainer, member of the British demonstration ski team and director of ICE ski instructor training in Val d'Isere, France, was on-hand in Glenshee. Having one of the worlds most highly respected ski instructors on the team is a real asset and lets you fully understand if the skis will work for you.
Thanks to Atomic for letting us test their kit. As with all of the testing at SkiKitInfo.com, the brands don't pay for these reviews or have any say in how they turn out.
