So this is how Immortan Joe felt…. #MadMaxx #Hollywood #movies #theaters #BoxOffice
For decades, Hollywood controlled the faucet. 💧🎬
In the ’90s and early 2000s, if you wanted an audience, there were only a few gates you could pass through — major studios, TV networks, and big distributors. They decided what stories got told, who became famous, and what the public was allowed to see.
The power looked a lot like the world of Mad Max.
In this sketch, we parody that idea using Immortan Joe — the ruler who literally controls the water. The peasants below only get a splash when he decides to open the valve.
That’s exactly how entertainment used to work.
The studios controlled the pipeline. Actors, creators, and filmmakers had to line up and hope they’d be chosen. Access to audiences was scarce, and the people holding the valve decided who got a taste.
But then the internet happened.
Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok cracked the system open. Suddenly the faucet wasn’t controlled by a handful of studios anymore.
Distribution became free.
Now anyone with a camera, an idea, and an internet connection can reach millions without asking permission.
The gatekeepers didn’t disappear… but the desert definitely got a lot more water.
