India becomes 5th biggest Military spender in the world according to SIPRI report

India has become the 5th biggest Military spender in the world according to a report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The feat marks an increase in military spending by 8.9 per cent to $92.1 billion in 2025 amid growing global panic. India’s defence rise is driven majorly by anti-terror push and retaliatory Ops Sindoor against Pakistan in response to the heinous Pahalgam terror attack. In Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, India successfully destroyed nine major terror launchpads & killed over 100 terrorists. The nation tragically observed one-year anniversary of the barbaric terror attack on April 22 which claimed 26 lives. According to the report, Pakistan’s military spending rose by 11%, further straining its ailing economy.
