Kennedy Carmela is a gifted and passionate 21 year old singer/songwriter born and raised in Sacramento, CA. Kennedy is both exuberantly youthful and has a keen sense of how to convey her feelings, which has served her well thus far in life with both her singing and acting careers.

Kennedy first took aim at advancing her musical aptitude when she was 11 years old. She studied piano and began acting with the Sacramento Theatre Company. After a key role in a local theatre production, Kennedy was approached and offered representation by a Los Angeles-based talent agency for acting and modeling. In high school, Kennedy ran track and was also the president of the Black Student Union, an after school program designed to bring black students together to create a safe space and support system.

In college, Kennedy majored in Socio-Cultural Anthropology at UC Davis, at which time she seized the opportunity to study in Florence, Italy. To even further broaden her horizons, she visited numerous other European countries while living abroad. These studies have certainly enriched and distinctly shaped her global perspective.

Now with her college years recently completed, Kennedy is ready to pursue her music career full tilt. With timing being the key to everything, it was that time! Her dad, Wornel Simpson, a financial advisor handling multi-million-dollar portfolios for the rich and famous including a client roster of sports figures such as long-time friend Dave Stewart, a former Oakland A's player, actor Jamie Foxx, and many others, reached out to his long time friend Joel Diamond. Although for many years Wornel has told Joel about his very talented daughter, it was now time to ‘blast off’ and Wornel said the long awaited words: “My daughter is ready!”

“After meeting and listening to Kennedy sing, it was one of those rare moments I felt only a few times in my 50 year career ... This Girl Is A Star!”, said multi-platinum & 2x Grammy nominee record producer, Joel Diamond, who immediately signed Kennedy.

As Diamond had done quite successfully in the past, resulting in multiple #1 records with several other young artists, he began to assemble Kennedy’s Dream Team. Within 30 days, Kennedy was in the studio with Joel Diamond producing and surrounded by hugely talented and well credentialed musicians, arrangers, background singers and vocal coaches.

Kennedy’s early influences include Aaliyah, Sade, and Alicia Keys, and she hopes some day to have her own boutique line of perfume, jewelry, and wine.

“I am most open through the songs I write and sing. My hope is that my music will inspire people to travel my journey along with me, so we all find the love and peace in life we are looking for,” says Kennedy.

Kennedy Carmela is driven, talented, and is destined for fame and ready to take her place in the company of the likes of Olivia, Billie, and Ariana.
