::: Introducción ::: LABOR CONTRACTIONS

Welcome again to our Pregnancy and Babies channel!

Would you like to know more about the different contractions you experience during labor? Don’t worry, today you will learn how to identify them! We will explain you all 6 types of contractions there are and how to avoid pain.

Without a doubt, after finding out that you are pregnant, one of the first things that future moms want to find out is how to identify labor pain. This may be the most feared pregnancy moment, isn’t it? The moment you have to give birth.

But don’t worry dear mom! Everything will be alright. If you think about it, it’s the most special moment of your pregnancy, the moment you have been waiting for during 9 months: meeting your baby!!

Back to the contractions, don’t be shy if you ever end up at the hospital after having a “false”contraction. This happens very often with newly moms. In order to feel more confident about this moment, these are the 6 types of contractions or labor pain you need to know, all explained:
THE 6 TYPES OF CONTRACTIONS

1. Braxton Hicks Contractions
This type of contraction is different to the other 5 because your bump gets hard. They are uncomfortable but not painful. They last 30 to 60 seconds, and even though they happen through the whole pregnancy, we only feel them during the middle of it.

If you suffer from them and they are actually uncomfortable, you just have to lay down and rest, breath in and out. You will see how this helps getting you back in your feet!

2. Early Labor Contractions

As the name suggests, it is the final countdown to the big day! They are meant to prepare the future mom’s organism for what is coming up as soon as the labor starts.

They are a little bit stronger than Braxton Hicks and you will feel a stronger low back pain. They are common during the last 2 weeks of pregnancy and they last around 30 seconds each, during a maximum of 20 minutes in total. Don’t worry mom, after this period of time, you will feel normal again.

3. Active Labor Contractions

Pack up your stuff, new mom, the time of the labor has come!! You will start regularly feeling some sort of kidney pain that it will slowly get to the tummy area. At first, it won’t be longer than 20 second. However, when you get closer and closer to the labor, these will start getting longer, more frequent and intense.

Pay attention! Together with your partner you should start checking the frequency of each contraction. When the frequency last less than 10 minutes... you will know this is the time to get to the hospital
