2007 BMW 335i Steering Angle Sensor Cleaning/DIY Fix

In this video we'll be fixing the steering angle sensor problems on my 2007 E92 335i. This is going to be a pretty long video. I tried to cut it down as much as I could but it still came out at around 40mins. I wanted to make sure that I covered everything in enough detail so that you can just follow along. I'll try add timestamps all the way through.

You should be able to follow along with this guide for any E9x or E6x series car, as everything is fairly similar between this era of 3 and 5 series BMW's. There may just be some slight differences in cables and modules depending on your exact model and options.

If your car has the non sports wheel (flat triangular shaped airbag instead of the protruding round airbag) you can check out this video here for airbag removal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gopcxg_Uyo
Thanks to Sucram Sucram for sharing the link in his comment!

The car had developed errors with the DTC, DSC, steering angle, indicators not self cancelling, cruise control not working, active start fault, automatic hold on hills not working and steering wheel not aligning correctly after sharp turns.

My quote from the dealership to have the module replaced was around $1400. This fix costs nothing in new parts so long as you have the tools. When searching this fix myself I couldn't really find any videos that clearly outlined the whole process, so I figured I'd make my own guide for anyone else that may be looking at doing this as well.

I apologize for the shaky footage and auto focus at times. The image stabilization on my phone seemed to be having a hard time keeping things steady.
