In US news and current events today, Sisters Sophie and Rosa Do say they were approached by 2 women in the Sydney, Australia suburb of Marrickville on March 30. According to Sophie Do, the two women began shouting obscenities about the Do sisters’ race and the coronavirus.

The novel coronavirus has led to an increase in hate crimes against people of Asian descent. In the U.S., more than 1,000 anti-Asian incidents have been reported in the last 5 weeks, according to Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) in a March 30 press call.
