Hello guys!
This video shows you the most important event in the #Hamer society of #Ethiopia called #bull #jumping #ceremony. A young person who is eligible to marriage must jump over rows of cattle. He holds a short stuff at about his back and doesn't wear clothes below his waist. This ceremony is a means of measuring the young person's spiritual and physical strength. It involves leaping onto the back of the first bull, then from one bull to the next, until he reaches the end of the row. He must then turn around and repeat the performance in the opposite direction, then a third and fourth time, before he has proved his worth to everybody's satisfaction. Should he succeed then he is free to take a wife, but if he fails he will have to wait a year and try again.
