NT declares Boxing Day a public holiday
The Northern Territory's decision to make Boxing Day a public holiday - despite falling on a Saturday - has taken the hospitality industry by surprise.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner said the move brought the Territory into line with the majority of jurisdictions.
Some venues feared the added costs of holiday loading would force them to put on fewer staff or reduce trading hours over the holiday period.
