■About them
Japan’s Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics is a sport unique to Japan and these athletes represent Aomori University.

They do not perform as professional performers, but they perform as one of university’s club activities.

At the closing ceremony of Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016, athletes from Aomori University performed during the flag handover ceremony to Tokyo Olympics.

Some of the students who graduated from Aomori University went on with their passion for artistic expressions through gymnastics; and now professionally perform at Cirque de Soleil.

Despite Japan’s Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics being a minor sport, thanks to SNS like YouTube, they are gaining more attention around the world.

With very little information available to make this sport spread to the world, this sport has yet to gain recognition as a unique sport of its own, but Japan Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics has very enthusiastic supporters and fans.
