PMCA Purple Martin NestCam 2021 (Movie-time Sat@1PM EDT)
Watch as a five year old Purple Martin female X271 (Jolene!) and her mate Ragnotha try to successfully raise nestlings at the Purple Martin Conservation Association HQ in Erie, PA, USA. *UPDATES BELOW*

*June 25: Fifth hatch approx 1PM
*June 24: Fourth hatch approx 7PM
*June 24: Third hatch took place in the early morning hours
*June 23: Second hatch approx 7PM
*June 23: First hatch @ 4:17PM
*June 22: Everything is looking good and we're on track for a June 24 hatch. Don't miss the first hatch!
*June 15: One of the eggs seems to be developing a different color. It may not be viable, but we'll know for sure at hatch time.
*June 11: Male's band is read, revealing that he was born at a nearby colony in 2017. He is named "Ragnotha" by the PMCA staff, after the last warrior chief of the Eriez people who once inhabited this land.
*June 10: Egg laying is complete. We're predicting June 24 as the beginning of the hatch! (although unusual laying pattern an extra day between egg #1 and #2 might throw off the prediction)
*June 9: Six eggs!
*June 8: Five eggs (Incubation appears to be underway)
*June 7: Fourth egg
*June 6: Third egg laid
*June 5: Second egg laid
*June 3: Camera goes live in Gourd L
*June 3: First egg laid
*June 3: Female's band is read, revealing that the she was born at this gourd rack in Gourd I in 2016. In 2018 she successfully fledged 5 young from 6 eggs in Gourd I. In 2019 she fledged 7 young as the female in our livestream that year!
*June 3: Male is also banded but we haven't gotten a complete read yet, only that it begins with an X (we need the three digits after the X)
Facts about Purple Martins:
--Purple Martins only nest in human provided housing east of the Rocky Mountains, due to habitat loss and pressure from invasive species.
--The male is all dark feathered, while the female has gray on her throat and belly.
--The nest is located in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA
--The nest is in an artificial gourd hanging from an aluminum gourd rack ( http://shop.purplemartin.org )
--If the parents are climbing on top of the young it's to keep them warm
