Raco Air Force Base 6-30-17

This is the old Raco Field/Army Airfield/Air Force Base. It is about 25 miles West of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. It is currently controlled by the U.S. Forest Service, Hiawatha National Forest and planes haven't landed there since the 1970s. It was constructed as defense for the Sault Locks and shipping around the great lakes. There was an anti-aircraft battery and BOMARC missiles meant to shoot down Russian bombers should the need arise. For more info: http://www.airfields-freeman.com/MI/Airfields_MI_N.htm
