RV Living | Black Hills South Dakota! [Sturgis Part 2]

This was our 2nd week in Sturgis, SD, and after the big motorcycle rally was over. The area really quieted down and the roads were much less traveled, which made our rides really nice.

We took the bike over to Mount Rushmore and then down to Custer State Park to check out the famous Needles Highway. We had heard that this would be a great ride and it was! The park was beautiful and the ride was full of curves, hills, switchbacks, and amazing views! This route would be a great scenic drive as well, but some parts of the road were very narrow (not sure if we would dare to take the dually)

We also went back to Deadwood to walk around Mt. Moriah Cemetery, where some infamous people are buried. We visited the graves of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Sheriff Seth Bullock.

Our friends Jason & Rae (a.k.a. Getaway couple) were still in the area, so we decided to meet up again. This time, we found a secret bar/speakeasy to check out. It was a pretty cool experience!! 🍸 

The last ride we took before heading out of the area was to Badlands National Park!! On the way to Badlands, we made a stop in Wall, SD to check out the well-know Wall Drugstore. Badlands NP…Wow was this a cool ride! We felt like we were on another planet, with the diversity of the landscape and rock formations. This park is huge and we only rode through it, however, we look forward to getting back there to explore. 

We had a great time in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, as there is so much to see and do. We did not come close to experiencing all that that area has to offer. We will be adding South Dakota to our itinerary again in the future!
