As the World Burns: A Zombie Apocalypse Soap Opera

The streets are crowded with the hellish figments of your deepest and darkest nightmares. The stench of death is thick in the air, and yet life goes on as the world burns.

Welcome to the first episode in a possible 9 part series. It's our PILOT episode, if you will. We came up with the idea a year or so ago and never followed up on it. How cool would it be to do Guiding Light meets Night of the Living Dead? Could you pull off a daytime drama series that takes place during the zombie apocalypse?

The announcement of AMC's Walking Dead inspired us to get off our asses and shoot a quick episode. The actors had one week's notice. We hired a local makeup artist. I tore my house up to build sets, and we shot the dramatic parts on one grueling day, starting around 9:30am and finishing at 10:30pm. The zombie crowds were shot the following weekend. I think it turned out well enough.

Would love to hear some feed back. Should we make a continuing series? A 9 part cliffhanger could package up nicely into a DVD to sell to our adoring fans...
