Non-fermenting sugars (what is sugar #05)
Sugars used in brewing are not all meant to be fermented. In fact excessive sugar can cause a horrible excess of alcohol. To alter the body and mouth feel unfermentable sugars used.
This is also true of other products like chewing gum. Chewing gum generates a slight negative calorie intake because it uses a sugar that can not be metabolized, eg, xylitol.
Some people choose to use sugars that can not be metabolized for dietary reasons. These are zero calorie sugars.
They are zero calorie because both yeast and humans lack the enzymes needed to break chemical bonds. Without this the sugar acts as dietary fiber and passes out of the human GI tract or is not adsorbed by the yeast cell.
The variety of sugars listed in this video give you options to accommodate a number situations in which you may find yourself.
Whilst most of the items listed in this video are harmless some do need extra careful use around pets.
