Kia Sorento CRDi 2.5L 2006 fuel pick up strainer blocked causing randon stalling

My Kia Sorento started randomly stalling, it would restart fine so long as i turn the ignition off first, I changed the fuel filter but this didnt help, somebody suggested the Oxygen sensor or crank sensor, my tester indicated code P1188 (o2 sensor heater circuit resistance), some body also suggested the fuel pick up strainer as it is commonly known to get clogged, apparently it can get clogged as the lining of the fuel tank comes away with age.

Take great care when removing the fuel pick up assembly, disconnect the battery and be sure to keep mobile phone or sources of intense heat etc away from the working area.

Access to the fuel pick up is found under the back seats which lift up toward the back of the drivers seat there should be a tag to pull up. Sounds silly but be sure to reconnect all electrical connections and fule pipes when re-assembling and dispose of dirty fuel responsibly.
