New Zealand marks 1 year since White Island volcano eruption | ABC News

A commemoration ceremony is marking one year since the Whakaari-White Island eruption off the coast of New Zealand's North Island.

47 tourists were on the volcano when it erupted on December 9, 2019.

17 Australians died, along with three international travellers and two local guides.
