The Real Origin of Dark Academia and Cottagecore (aka let's get rid of the eurocentrism)

The two arguments for and against the problematic aspects of Dark Academia and Cottagecore usually revolve around on one hand on eurocentrism and elitism and on the other hand on people defending and saying there is nothing wrong with appreciating European Culture. However, I believe that Eurocentrism is not a core component of these aesthetics, it is something that we unconsciously attributed to them, due to whiteness as default. Dark Academia and Cottagecore did not originate in 19th Century Great Britain, it originated in 2015 on Tumblr.com, and so we dictate what characteristics are allowed in these aesthetics.
