How to Build a 47RE/48RE to Hold 650 to 1000+ Horsepower
We build transmissions that hold 650 to 1000-plus horsepower. This is every part we use, what it does, and why it is in there.
This video covers the full parts breakdown for a built 47RE and 48RE, organized by power level from a 650 horsepower street build all the way past 1000. Every upgrade is explained, every threshold is given, and the reasoning behind each part is grounded in what we actually see fail in the real world.
At the 650 horsepower level the critical upgrades are the billet input shaft, second gear apply hardware, billet accumulator, servo cover, extra clutch capacity via machined reaction plates, a triple disc converter, and a high performance valve body. Things like the Torrington bearing mod, welded ring gears, pinned sprag race, and lube mods go into every unit we build regardless of power level.
Once you push past 850 and into 1000-plus territory the list grows. Billet output shaft, billet intermediate, fat 35-spline input shaft, billet Bellville spring, steel 48 planetaries, billet drum, and a hardened input retainer all become part of the conversation. Each one is covered with the exact threshold where it starts to matter.
