Fantasy Fest (Episode 1.7) - Key West, the southernmost city in the United States, has long been known as a tropical haven for the bizarre and unusual. It’s no surprise that Fantasy Fest, the city’s week-long party leading up to Halloween, is no exception. Every year, tens of thousands of islanders and visitors alike dress up (or down) to create a free loving, anything goes party, that, much like the city, is truly unique. In the spirit of Halloween, host Guad Venegas begins his trip with a visit to the city’s above-ground cemetery where its residents continue to reveal their eccentricities in their playfully written epitaphs. He also pays homage to one of the city’s early economic endeavors, ship looting, with a visit to the Wrecker’s museum. Finally, in search of something to keep him going all night long, Guad discovers the best Key Lime Pie in town. As the festival builds to its Saturday night climax, Guad can’t help but join in the action by getting painted as a Mexican wrestler, and jumping on a local float as the final parade rolls through Old Town.
