BMW 2002 Trailing Arm Build - turning stock into boxed tii with a twist of Alpina

Spending time in the garage working on projects.
Fixing my 1970 BMW 2002 race car rear trailing arms. After 15 years of hard racing one of my rear trailing arms finally broke beyond saving. Time for a fresh set. This video chronicles what I did, mistakes I made and research into strengthened e10 rear trailing arms on stock 2002 tii and race upgrades like what Alpina used. This was not a difficult project and inexpensive.. took about 2 days.

Actual build starts at time 7:40 in the video
Boxing fabrication at 9:30
Alpina reinforcement fab at 14:51
Quick rear brake shoe mounting sequence at time 18:30

Costs:
New wheel bearings and seals - $50
Metal - $26
Used trailing arms if needed ~ $100
Grease ~ $5

Tools used:
Mig Welder
Media blaster
Right angle grinder
Drill Press
Jig Saw
Hammers, vice, clamps, etc.
Arbor Press
Seal / Bearing tool

This was a great project for me as I had most all of the parts and tools and only needed to order the bearings and seals.
