Verba Carminis / Latin Lyrics with elisions and contractions for singing:

Cur sunt carmina totque, et tanta, de pluvīs arcibus?
Arcus sunt somnia, sed modo sim'lacra — nil celatur iridibus.
Sic nobis traditum'st, sic credunt quidam.
Errar' eos ego scio.
Quond'invenjemus: iridis connexum
amantes, somnjantes, ego.

Exoptatum posse fieri quis dixit si sol' oratā stellā.
Aliquis credenti hoc enarraverat
deludens sperantem?
Quid mirum sit ut stellas sic spectemus? quidn' exspectemus? id quaero.
Quond'invenjemus: iridis connexum
amantes, somnjantes, ego.

Omnes nunc incantati
nos scimus magic' ess'hanc artem

Semisomnis eras, et voces audisti?
Me vocarunt nomine.
Hocine Sirenes qu'alliciunt nautam?
An Clio'tque Calliope?
Non eam djutjus ignorare possum
metamorphosin mi denuo.
Quond'invenjemus: iridis connexum
amantes, somnjantes, ego.

arcus (-ūs) pluvius : "rainbow" (also there is "arcus caelestis").

cēlō, cēlāre, cēlāvī, cēlātus : "to hide," "to keep secret"

Clīō (Clīūs) et Calliōpē : Muse of History and Epic Poetry, respectfully, here chosen as the symbolic "call to adventure" and as a counterpoint to the Sirens who call sailors off course.

īris (īridis) : "rainbow" ( εἶρις ) in Greek, goddess of rainbows and messenger of the Olympian gods.

metamorphōsis (gen. metamorphōseōs, acc. metamorphōsin): "transformation" in Greek, chosen here as a reference to Ovid's Metamorphoses, and also to the fact that Kermit, a frog, underwent biological metamorphosis from the tadpole to adult frog stage of his life cycle.

ōrō, ōrāre, ōrāvī, ōrātus : "to pray to"

quondam : "someday" (also "a long time ago", thus it means any time distant from the present, whether in the future or the past)
