Notre Dame de Paris | Belle (Italian) Lyrics & Translation

*A couple of notes:
0:51 / 2:22 / 4:03 - “Notre-Dame”: seeing how this expression is used in the lyrics (“praying Notre-Dame”, “Oh, Notre-Dame”) I am led to think this is a mistranslation of the French lyrics. “Notre-Dame de Paris” literally translates as “Our Lady of Paris” and while they clearly chose to call out at Notre-Dame given the location of the story, I think their prayers were actually meant for Mary, so for “Our Lady”, not for the church.
3:03 - “It lets me discover the mountain, not the beyond”: the translation in the video is rather literal, but this line has actually a double meaning:
1. In the view of the Afterlife Dante reported in his Divine Comedy, Purgatory is depicted as a mountain, on top of which lies the Earthly Paradise, and above and beyond it, Heaven. “Aldilà” is one of the possible ways of calling the Afterlife, and it’s derived of the expression “al di là”, meaning “beyond”.
2. In connection with the preceding line “There’s Venus underneath”, the word “mountain” becomes short for “mountain Venus” (“monte di Venere”), Italian for “mons Venus” or “mons pubis”.
