My trip to Canada | Video People's choice winner DJI Skypixel Contest

The Great Canadian Journey. That's probably a good way to start 😊
Grab your popcorn , be sure to turn on the sound and... enjoy your watching!

Video, which probably took the most time to shoot and edit, because of the hyperlapses from Toronto and the range of the objects.
So, for those who don't like to read much - the main locations from the video: Canadian Rocky Mountains, specifically resort towns like: Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and many other interesting places from those regions; Downtown Toronto and surrounding areas, and Niagara Falls.

Actually, the main location of my placement was Toronto. But I could not sit still and was pulled towards the "real" Canada: mountains, freezing temperatures below 20 degrees, northern lights and polar bears. Yes! That was exactly what I wanted to capture and I had intended to fly or drive to the town of Churchill. But it was expensive to fly there and back from Toronto, and there was no way to get there by car and I would have had to transfer by train. After learning that in the period in which I was going to be there in early March, there are not bears, then I began to change the vector.
The choice fell on the Canadian Rocky Mountains, which attracted me because there you can admire the northern lights overlooking the beautiful landscapes. It is, by the way, one of the few regions in the northern hemisphere where you can see this beautiful phenomenon as far south as possible. Yes, the goal was to see it twice in half a year 😊 hello, Iceland.
Unfortunately the first early morning while it was still far before dawn, when I was already in Jasper(resort town in the mountains), I only managed to catch a small piece hidden behind the clouds. But what I liked was that I came to a frozen lake with an island with a wooden bridge leading to it and not a soul around. It was scary, because I knew there were animals of all different calibers around: wolves, wolverines, moose, etc. The grizzlies were in hibernation. But with each crunch of snow around, I had to freeze and look around with a flashlight, while I took a long shot of the sky with the night scenery.

Not far from Jasper I visited Maligne Canyon. It is a canyon formed by the river of the same name, where I walked on the ice and touched rocks shaped by centuries by water - a sight indescribable. And yes, I fell there. Normal hikers walk there in crampons 😊

My route was from Jasper to Banff. Then there were a lot of stops along the route because I had never been in those places surrounded by giants all the way up to 4000m.

One of the main other points was to skate on the smooth ice of the mountain lakes. And the morning before my flight I took extra luggage and packed skates. Thanks to all these wishes, I ended up on my way to Abraham lake. In general, it is famous in the winter for gas bubbles frozen in the ice. But that wasn't what my thoughts were about 😊 The expanse and frost attracted my skates! Also I skated at Lake Louise, a very popular place in those parts. There's also a town of the same name there with all the touristy delights in the winter.

At the end of my journey through the Rocky Mountains, I ended up in the town of Bannf. It's a paradise for people who love ski resorts and just love the winter scenery. There I encountered freezing temperatures of -25 degrees. Either the washer fluid was crap or there was a lot of water in the tank, because the windshield was immediately covered with ice after washing.

In Banff you can also admire the Banff springs hotel, which is more than a hundred years old and in the style of a castle. I did not dare to stay there, because a night there is something like $ 500. I had a good hostel for $30 😊 By the way, as it turned out, there was a whole network of these hostels for a good price on my route. I loved it. Not everywhere has a chain of hostels with similar conditions. But one of them was memorable. It was at the beginning of my journey. The one where I had to go to the bathroom in -17 😊 But, it was so cozy and wild on the other side. There was no running water. The water was heated by the owners to wash the dishes.
Back in Toronto, I decided to take it with slow hikes with a stabilizer and camera in hand through the local sights.
Downtown Toronto is a place that always stinks of weed... a lot of junkies on something, who behave inadequately. But overall, the city is well-maintained and the infrastructure is well-developed.

Another one of my goals in Canada was to play hockey! Just imagine a "Moldovan hockey player" storming the Canadian ice rinks - how cool is that! Of course I`m not the first and not the last. Unfortunately, I didn`t get it in the video, because my father used to make videos periodically on the phone, and he didn`t want to take the camera in his hands, and just to put it on a tripod - well, such a thing...
But a lot of the trip to Canada was organized by my dad, so I'm grateful to him!
