Hills and Heat Exhaustion: Cycling in Laos // World Bicycle Touring Episode 40
We left Luang Prabang after a few rest days and headed southeast across Laos. We visited the Plains of Jars UNESCO site near Phonsavan and cycled through numerous rural villages and long stretches of rice and cassava fields. The mountainous riding in Laos continued to challenge us, as well as the distance and elevation gain between resupply opportunities!
We crossed the border into Vietnam at Nam Phao - along with an unbelievable train of trucks that was backed up for miles!
Time Frame: Late January - Mid February 2023
Cycling Days: 11
Distance Covered: 417 miles/670 km
