There's no need to throw you car at Big Red, or many other desert sand dunes. The secrets are simple:

drop tyre pressures (no, really drop them, further than that)
nice even throttle
keep the wheels straight as you can
use as high a gear as you can

and up you go! Watch and see you don't need to start your runup to Big Red in Mt Dare to get over the top!

Notes:

1. The vehicles in the video ran at 9psi to make a point of how pressures work. For crossing the Simpson that's too low generally, I'd recommend 15 to 18psi. You can drop lower as required, then re-inflate.

2. Yes there's way more to dune driving than this!
