Northern League Ashington entertained Blue Square North side Vauxhall Motors in this FA Cup tie.

An early Ashington goal by Jamie Clarke was cancelled out by Craig Mahon. Within a minute, Ashington quickly lost possession and Motors' captain Josh Wilson put the visitors ahead.

Leighton McGivern looked to have put the Motormen through to the next round when he made it 3-1 with less than 20 minutes left to play. A quick reply from Ashington's Stephen Young reduced the deficit and gave the home fans hope.

3 minutes into injury time, a Stephen Young cross was headed into the top corner by Jamie Clarke to earn Ashington a well deserved replay at Rivacre Park.

In the replay on 4th October Ashington pulled off a shock 1-0 win against a team playing 3 leagues above them.

Ashington earned the right to host another Blue Square North team, Guiseley, in the 3rd Qualifying Round.
