Capacitive Deionization (CDI) Technology

Capacitive Deionization Technology for Water Desalination

-Development of capacitive deionization technology as a mean of saving energy and delivering purified water
-Fabrication of nanoporous carbon electrodes for electrosorption of ions
-Improvement of desalination performance and charge efficiency

Research Interest

Our group is pioneering in developing water-energy sustainable technologies. The goal of our group effort is to advance the fundamentals of nanostructured carbon materials and to pursue in-depth knowledge of underlying physical and chemical interactions at nanoscales. Understanding these fundamentals has important technological implications for developing novel physical, chemical, biological treatment processes for water and wastewater systems.
Specifically, we are interested in several research areas including synthesis of novel nanoporous carbon materials, analytical techniques of voltammetric properties, capacitive deionization for desalination, potential applications of nanomaterials for water purification, and systemic integrated approach to environmental sustainability.
