Five hopefuls will try to become the next leader of the Labour Party after an historic loss led Jeremy Corbyn to announce he would be resigning.

Emily Thornberry, Rebecca Long Bailey, Keir Starmer, Lisa Nandy and Jess Philips are in the running to lead the Labour Party to the next general election. The Corbynistas of the party will try to elect a leader to continue the hard-left work of Jeremy Corbyn. Moderate members of the party will try to choose a candidate to bring the party back to centre-left.
