The San Jose streetwear brand campaigning to “Stop Asian Hate” | Cukui x 99designs by Vista

Introducing the premiere episode of our “Bay Made” video series, featuring Cukui, a San Jose-based streetwear brand rooted in Asian Pacific Islander and Mexican culture, graffiti and tattoo art. We meet owner Jason Locquiao, who created t-shirts and launched a social media campaign to protest violence against Asian-Americans. We chat to him about brand activism, and learn how small businesses can use their platform, combined with the power of design, to take a stand.

Chapters:
00:00 Meet Cukui
00:35 San Jose and the Bay Area
00:57 How Cukui started out
01:42 How 99designs is helping
02:38 Why small businesses are important to communities

At 99designs by Vista, we know representation matters. As part of our pledge to empower diverse voices, we awarded $50,000 in design support to minority-owned small businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area.

"Bay Made" is a video series that explores the intersection of design, culture and community in the San Francisco Bay Area, as told through the stories of four inspiring business owners.
