The keynote lecture of Data Excellence Week 2026, titled Data, Research Libraries, AI: Enhancing Services through Technology, was held on 24 March, 2026.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Peter Broadwell (https://library.stanford.edu/people/peter-broadwell ), Head of AI Modelling and Inference in Research Data Services (https://library.stanford.edu/research-support/data-support-and-services) at Stanford University Libraries (https://library.stanford.edu/ ). The lecture provided an overview of research data services provided at Stanford and explored how research libraries are responding to evolving data management needs. Drawing on case studies involving the adoption and deployment of new approaches to data indexing and analysis across a range of modalities and formats - including tabular, text, GIS, audiovisual data - Dr Broadwell highlighted the potential of AI‑enabled methods to enhance research data preservation and accessibility, as well as to support data‑driven research in academia.
