Paul Greengard: Neuroscience Pioneer

Paul Greengard was an American neuroscientist who studied how neurons communicate at the molecular and cellular level. In 2000, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Arvid Carlsson and Eric Kandel for discovering how signals are transmitted in the nervous system. He was the Vincent Astor Professor at Rockefeller University, where he conducted much of his research. Greengard also contributed to scientific organizations, serving on the advisory boards of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund and the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
