"El Curandero. Las enseñanzas de don Raul" (Ayahuasca and Amazon shamanism documentary -Eng subs)

“El Curandero. Las Ensenanzas de don Raul” is the title of my first documentary I made in the Peruvian jungle on the Ucayali. Translated from Spanish: “Healer. Don Raul’s Teachings” is a story about the life of an Amazonian medicine man who became the second father to me when I came to Peru several years ago Raul Flores da Silva is a guide in the world of medicinal plants of the rainforest, and among them the best known one – Ayahuasca. Raul is the master of Amazonian traditions, and at the same time a very modest man, whose life since his birth has been following the rhythm long forgotten by most residents of the so-called Western world. This simple man is a medic from the jungle who has learnt everything he knows and uses to help his native community by entering into a direct contact with the surrounding nature. The roots of his medical practice but also the spiritual one are deeply rooted within the green ocean of the Amazonia and its indigenous people. It was Indians ho first shared the secrets of the forest with Raul’s ancestors, and after his father’s death Raul is trying to proudly continue his work, and he treats all those in need who come to his spiritual sanatorium. Raul is also a head of a family, Velma’s husband, father to Javier, Sonia, Raul Angel, Peter, Juana Carlos and Jairo… and finally, Raul is the foundation of an extraordinary story I wanted to present to the entire world.
