CELEBRAÇAO NA ALDEIA DOS PATAXOS EM BARRA VELHA, SUL DA BAHIA, BRASIL

Encontro no dia do Indio, dia 22 de abril de 2022. Estamos na aldeia de Barra Velha, em Caraiva no sul da Bahia, Brasil.
Os indios Pataxos que habitam o sul da Bahia estão totalmente ligados à terra do descobrimento. Concentrados em aldeias, esse grupo indígena ocupa o litoral baiano, que vai desde Belmonte e Cabrália, ao norte, passando por Porto Seguro e Monte Pascoal, até Prado, ao sul.
No século XX, os Pataxós sofreram um grande processo de aculturação e foram colocados à margem da sociedade. Os resultados foram a invasão de seus territórios e a perda quase total de sua cultura -- um processo intensificado, principalmente com a implantação de grandes fazendas de pecuária.
A equipe de ArtNetworkTV foi ate a aldeia de Barra Velha , ligada à Reserva perto de Caraiva, Barra Velha, considerada a 'Aldeia Mãe', a mais populosa e a mais tradicional; Aldeia Pé do Monte, na base do Monte Pascoal -- referência espiritual para os Pataxós; que abriga um Ponto de Cultura, onde o Pajé Aktxawã vive com a missão de manter e divulgar a cultura Pataxó, e o amor a natureza e a vida espiritual. Barra Velha hoje em dia tem uma escola de ensino medio com professores indígenas e ensino bilíngue, portugues a e dialeto da etnia que preparam os jovens indigenas para a vida moderna, valorizando os costumes, a cultura e a identidade étnica entre as novas gerações.

The Pataxos Indians who inhabit the south of Bahia are totally connected to the land of the discovery of Brazil. Concentrated in villages, this indigenous group occupies the coast of Bahia, which goes from Belmonte and Cabrália, in the north, through Porto Seguro and Monte Pascoal, to Prado, in the south.
In the 20th century, the Pataxós underwent a great process of acculturation and were placed on the margins of society. The results were the invasion of their territories and the almost total loss of their culture -- a process intensified, mainly with the implantation of large cattle ranches.
The ArtNetworkTV team went to the village of Barra Velha, linked to the Reserve near Caraiva, Barra Velha, considered the 'Mother Village', the most populous and the most traditional; at the base of Monte Pascoal -- a spiritual reference for the Pataxós; which houses a Culture Point, where the Pajé Aktxawã lives with the mission of maintaining and disseminating the Pataxó culture, and the love for nature and spiritual life. Nowadays Barra Velha has a high school with indigenous teachers and bilingual education, Portuguese and ethnic dialect that prepare indigenous young people for modern life, valuing customs, culture, and ethnic identity among the new generations.
