50 കിലോ തിരണ്ടിയും തൂത്തുക്കുടി മീനവന്റെ രുചികളും | 50kg stingray + Thoothukudi Meenavan's Flavours

തൂത്തുക്കുടി മീനവന്റെ (ശക്തിയുടെ) ബോട്ടിൽ കണ്ടത് 50 കിലോയിൽ അധികം ഉള്ള തിരണ്ടിയും, ജീവനുള്ള നീരാളികളും, വർണ്ണപ്പകിട്ടാർന്ന മീനുകളും, ശംഖുകളും ഒക്കെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
We travelled all the way to Thoothukkudi to experience the life of Thoothukudi Meenavan (Shakthi and his team) - just a day's experience. There we saw a stingray that weighed 50kg, two live octopuses, some conchs, and several other fishes. We did also enjoy the food varieties prepared by Shakthi's sister-in-law. She prepared prawns gravy, prawns fry, fish curry with coconut and tamarind, and rice for us in less than 45 minutes. She also explained as she cooked her recipes.

തൂത്തുക്കുടി മീനവന്റെ (ശക്തിയുടെ) നാട്ടിൽ പോയി അവർ പാകം ചെയ്യുന്ന രുചികൾ ആസ്വദിക്കുവാൻ ഒരു അവസരം കിട്ടി. അവിടെ ചെന്ന് തൂത്തുക്കുടി ബീച്ചിൽ പോയി മീൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു വിൽക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഒരു ചെറിയ മാർക്കറ്റ് കണ്ടു. അവിടെ മീൻ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു, ലേലം ചെയ്യുന്നു, വെട്ടി കഴുകി ആളുകൾക്ക് സഞ്ചിയിൽ ആക്കി കൊടുത്ത് വിടുന്നു. ആ കൂടെ ആണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ആ ഭീമൻ തിരണ്ടിയെ കണ്ടത്. തിരണ്ടി മാത്രമല്ല, വർണമീനുകളും, നീരാളിയും, ശംഖും ഒക്കെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവരുടെ ബോട്ടുകളിൽ.
ബോട്ടിലെ കാഴ്ചകൾ കണ്ടതിനു ശേഷം അവരുടെ ചെറിയ വീട്ടിൽ പോയി മീനവന്റെ അണ്ണി (എനിക്ക് തങ്കച്ചി) പാകം ചെയ്തു തന്ന രുചികൾ ശക്തിയോടും, വിജിലേഷിനോടും, അഭിലാഷിനോടും, മാർട്ടിനോടും, ശക്തിയുടെ അണ്ണനോടും ഒപ്പം ആസ്വദിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
Thoothukudi is coastal town in Tamil Nadu. We travelled all the way from Kochi to Thoothukudi (by the way Kochi to Thoothukudi is around 318 kilometers and it would take around 9 - 10 hours by road), for meeting Thoothukudi Meenavan and his team. I must appreciate their hospitality - so warm and friendly. They treated us like their own family and we enjoyed the beach, auctioning of fishes, talks with fishermen, and of course the real village style cooking. There's nothing artificial here. The huts, the lifestyle, the food, and of course the ambience.
