On this options day trade we were looking to take advantage of a bear flag on BIDU 1 minute technical chart. We had a known entry point, target, and stop loss all in place before even entering the trade.

The key take away on this trade is how knowing where you are in terms of trade location will dictate how you decide to take profits. If you are short late to the party, it's a good idea to book profits early. If you are short from a two day balance low, it would be reasonable to look for more out of the move.

Options implied volatility helped out a bunch in making this trade fill even when price hardly moved. Notice the fill, before the actual low of day break, simply due to IV picking up and 'gassing' the contract price just a bit.

When trading options picking the right strike and expiration for the contract is key. On this trade we are using this next weeks, weekly options, and using the strike just at the money, but not an in the money put option. We used options instead of day trading the stock outright on BIDU because our profit potential is much greater and capital allocation is much less. Imagine needing $17,000 to have the similar exposure that we had using only $250.
