Reflexivity in Perception

The parable of the elephant and the blind men originally from the indian subcontinent is popular with people of all ages and continues to retain a certain timeless character. None of the versions however seem to offer a satisfactory conclusion. In this educast developed during the seminar Methods of Intercultural Trainings in the master program in Intercultural Human Resource Development and Communication Management John Godfrey Saxe's famous version of the parable is used in the first half and an attempt to seek a solution is made in the debriefing in the second half.
This educast lends itself for use in trainings on reflexivity in perception, (intercultural) team communication and project work. One could however also use just the first half and apply it to other contexts as deemed fit. (Kunal Jamsandekar)

Das aus dem indischen Subkontinent stammenden Gleichnis der Blinden und den Elefanten hat sich mehrfach verbreitet und bleibt nach wie vor für Großen und Kleinen zeitlos. Der Konflikt bleibt in allen Versionen ungelöst. In diesem Educast, der im Rahmen des Seminars "Methoden interkultureller Trainings" des Masterstudiengang Interkulturelle Personalentwicklung und Kommunikationsmanagement Universität Jena entstanden ist, wird das Gedicht von John Godfrey Saxe als Vorlage verwendet (1. Teil) und durch das Debriefing (2. Teil) werden Werkzeuge für eine Lösung gestrebt. Das Educast könnte bei Trainings zum Thema Perspektivenreflexivität, (interkulturelle) Teamkommuniation und Projektarbeit eingesetzt werden. Man könnte aber auch nur mit dem Gleichnis (1. Teil) arbeiten und in anderen Kontexten einsetzen. (Kunal Jamsandekar)
