Conrail at DANA Reading Plant
Dana Corporation's Parrish Pressed Steel division at Reading, PA was Conrail's largest customer in the Reading area, producing up to 70 carloads of auto/truck frames per day. It had its own crew headquarters and its own yardmaster furnished by Dana. The plant was switched three tricks a day by crews stationed there, and the loads were picked up and empties delivered by another crew from Reading yard. This plant closed in November, 1999 due to changes in the auto industry and all that remains at the site are the concrete slab foundations from the buildings.
