FINAL FLIGHT | Delta Airlines - McDonnell Douglas MD 88 - Washington DC (IAD) to Atlanta (ATL)

On June 2, I flew on Delta's MD-80 retirement flight. It was the last passenger/revenue flight for their entire fleet. I was lucky enough to have purchased a ticket in arguably the best seat onboard the MD-80. They have been planning the retirement of their 22 remaining McDonnell Douglas MD-88s for years now, but due to the current pandemic, the retirement was accelerated a year early. Delta’s once 120+ strong “Mad Dog” fleet is now all but gone, marking the end of an era for air travel worldwide as airlines have sought after more efficient aircraft to replace it with.
